Card Shop Chronicles: TCI Sports Fan (Dayton, OH)

I had to stop in to the card shop today to get a few supplies and while I was there, Terry, the owner, was gracious enough to let me take some photos for another edition of "Card Shop Chronicles".

Here's the view looking towards the back of the shop. Just outside of the picture on the right side is a giant wall dedicated to NASCAR die-cast.

As evidenced by the above pictures, they've got TONS of wax for sale, both sports and non-sports. The prices are fair, clearly marked, and all prices include tax, which is a big plus for me since I can budget my purchase without having to worry about how much tax will be.

The cases up front have a huge selection. These pictures are just the tip of the iceberg. There's vintage, inserts, rookie cards, autographed cards, jersey cards, and probably a bunch more things I'm forgetting. To be honest, the selection is pretty overwhelming, not that that's a bad thing.

A sample of the non-sports offerings they carry. I'm not a big fan of Walking Dead but I'll admit, those binders are pretty awesome.

Rounding out the pictures I took are more display cases of cards along with an entire back wall dedicated to nothing but Reds cards.

Finally, if you're sorting through large boxes at a time, they actually have sorting tables set up where you can grab a box and sort through it at your leisure. They also do consignments and run in-store cards shows from time to time where 10-12 dealers come in and set up.

Overall, another great card shop experience! Thank you Terry for letting me profile your shop on here. You can check out TCI Sports Fan on their Facebook page.

    1. It's probably the biggest selection of current wax in the area. I could honestly spend all day in this place if I were left to my own devices.

  2. My wife and I were in Dayton a few years ago looking at store fixtures. I haphazardly mentioned that I had heard of this awesome place called TCI and that it'd be neat to visit. She said maybe. We did the fixtures, grabbed lunch, and ended up stopping at some weird store in the same strip mall as TCI. Only I didn't realize it was TCI until we were about to exit the parking lot...and that point we were already thinking about ice cream...so we said maybe next time.

I've still never been, but the place looks AMAZING. And that boxes digging thing sounds great...I may just have to come up for a day some time in the Summer.

    1. You've got to visit the place at least once, it's quite the epic shop.

  3. We lived about 5 miles from there when my dad was stationed on Wright-Patterson AFB (maybe 1987-1990?), but I was in kindergarten then and didn't have much interest in sports. I've never been back. That looks like a great shop!
